Graduate conducting programs in the Butler School of Music are highly selective and provide exceptional training through close mentorship and opportunities to lead a diverse range of ensembles. Students prepare for careers in professional and academic settings through a study of music history, music theory, and related fields.
BAND & WIND
Band and Wind conducting students have the opportunity to lead several different ensembles during their studies from marching band to chamber winds to our top- tier Wind Ensemble. World-renowned faculty members guide students as they hone their professional and teaching skills.
ORCHESTRAL
Orchestra conducting students receive hands on experience assisting Symphony Orchestra rehearsals and running the University Orchestra, which includes preparing at least two concerts per semester.
CHORAL
Choral conducting students assist faculty with all Butler School choral ensembles. In addition to conducting choral groups, conducting assistants frequently sing in our top-tier choral ensemble, Chamber Singers.
