Stevie Dugdale, a native of southwest Missouri, is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting degree at the University of Texas. He holds both a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is here in Austin with his wife and three children.
While in Utah, Dugdale co-founded the Mountain West Voices, a youth barbershop chorus, which toured and competed in various competitions across the United States and won multiple awards. Additionally, he directed the Utah Valley Skyline Chorus, the Mountain Jubilee Chorus, and has consistently served as the choir director at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Throughout his time at BYU, Dugdale was assistant conductor of the BYU Singers, Men’s Chorus, Concert Choir, and University Chorale. In 2023, he was privileged to be one of the interim conductors of the 180-voice BYU Women’s Chorus, and helped to prepare the choir for participation in European choral festivals.


Dugdale has sung professionally since 2013 in a variety of groups and endeavors, most notably as a member of the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus in Eugene, Oregon. He is also a founding member of the early-music ensemble Sound of Ages where he has consistently performed as a soloist and choir member including at ACDA national and regional conferences, Carnegie Hall, and their premiere album “First Light.” He was also a member of Brevitas with whom he performed Talbot’s Path of Miracles. He was a member of the BYU Singers, participating in international choir festivals in both Tolosa, Spain, and Cork, Ireland where the choir took first place in 2024. Additionally, Dugdale loves teaching singers and has maintained a consistent and successful voice studio for 15 years.
