Teaching Assistant in Choral Conducting
ABOUT
Charles F. Henry is a second-year D.M.A. student in choral conducting at The University of Texas at Austin, studying with Dr. J.D. Burnett and Dr. Holly Dalrymple. After graduating cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he studied with Dr. Philip Copeland, Charles taught high school choir in Birmingham, Alabama for 16 years, consistently earning Superior ratings at state and regional contests, and thrice being invited to perform for the Alabama Music Educators’ Association. As a recipient of the Patricia and Carl S. Hoveland Fellowship in Choral Music, Charles earned the Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Georgia studying with Dr. Daniel Bara.
Charles is also the founder and artistic director of Iron City Singers, a community choir based in Birmingham, Alabama. Iron City Singers has given invitational performances for the Alabama chapter of ACDA, the Alabama Music Educators’ Association, and in 2024 was selected to perform for the Southern Regional ACDA Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
