The University of Texas Symphony Orchestra (UTSO) is becoming recognized as one of the top college orchestras in the nation. The orchestra has been featured since 2007 as part of the International Festival-Institute at Round Top's yearly "August to April Series," and in 2008 the group performed at The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas. In 2009, the orchestra performed to wide acclaim at the Texas Music Educator's Association convention in San Antonio, Texas. Students in UTSO have had the opportunity to work with noted musicians such as Jennifer Higdon, John Adams, William Bolcom and Claude Baker, in addition to featured appearances with the Butler School's world-renowned faculty of soloists and composers.
