Internationally acclaimed singer and songwriter Amanda Pascali will perform a concert and have a live conversation with Univeristy of Texas scholars Luisa Nardini and Valerie McGuire. Pascali’s music blends folk/Americana influences with southern Italian and Latin rhythms. Pascali is the creator of "To Sing and to Recount," a digital storytelling project to translate and revitalize Southern Italian folk songs, including the work of Rosa Balistreri.

How traditionally unserious instruments are making a serious splash with Sharlat's works.

Conducting research in a field like music composition bears little resemblance to most people’s understanding of what academic research “should” look like. Spend five minutes with Yevgeniy Sharlat, associate professor of composition at the Butler School of Music, and you’ll quickly learn that not all researchers wear lab coats. And, if Sharlat’s colleagues and students are anything to go by, not all heroes wear capes either.
