BACHELOR OF ARTS IN MUSIC • BACHELOR OF MUSIC • MASTER OF MUSIC • DOCTOR OF MUSICAL ARTS

Guided by internationally-recognized faculty, composition students receive lessons in a wide range of styles and genres including band, orchestral, choral, chamber music, electro-acoustic music, and film scoring.

Student composers will collaborate with ensembles and chamber groups to have their work read and performed. CLUTCH, or the Collective Labors of the UT Composition Hub, is a concert series that features and promotes music by student composers and is sponsored by the University Co-op. Austin also affords students diverse opportunities to present their music in public concerts and festivals – the new music scene in Austin is alive and thriving.

In addition to extensive training in composition, students have the opportunity to participate in ensembles and receive comprehensive instruction in music theory and music history. B.A. Composition majors are also required to complete a secondary field of study and additional general education requirements.
