The Longhorn Alumni Band Charitable Fund has made an historical investment in current and future Longhorn Band students. Last week during the UT Austin’s annual day of giving, “40 Hours for the Forty Acres,” the Longhorn Alumni Band Charitable Fund committed $1,240,000 to the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music, including a $600,000 general scholarship fund along with nineteen named scholarship funds.

Stella Bokyung Yoon is a soprano singer and current student of the Butler Opera Center, which will be presenting Mozart’s The Magic Flute from April 22 - 29. Ms. Yoon performs in the role of Pamina in this fantastical two-act opera.

Thank you for all your support during this year's 40 Hours for the Forty Acres! Because of you, we FAR surpassed last year's fundraising for a stunning grand total of almost $1,400,000.

The Cohen New Works Festival, presented by Broadway Bank, is a biennial, week-long showcase of new work created by students at The University of Texas at Austin held in various locations in and around UT campus.

On April 1, 2017 Dr. Sanikidze will have her first major faculty concert since joining the Butler School in 2015. Along with David Small, Associate Professor of Voice, they will perform a program featuring selections from Beethoven, Ewazen and Poulenc.

Luisa Nardini, associate professor of musicology at the Butler School, has been awarded a prestigious American Council of Learned Societies fellowship to take place in 2018.

We are proud to announce that Yevgeniy Sharlat, associate professor of composition and music theory at the Butler School of Music, has been selected by Kronos Quartet to compose a new string quartet for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire.

The Longhorn Alumni Band Charitable Fund has made a gift to The University of Texas at Austin of just over $83,000 to complete the funding of five scholarships established by the late Vincent R. DiNino, former Director of the Longhorn Band.

A new $5 million endowment will advance the study of music produced by Americans at the Butler School—from roots to jazz to film music to the concert hall.
