Dr. Kelsey Nussbaum appointed Assistant Professor of Music Education (Strings) at the University of Arizona

Nussbaum (B.M., Music and Human Learning/Music Education, 2013) also serves as Vice-Chair of the American String Teachers Association Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and as a board member for the National String Project Consortium. 

Michelle DeVall (M.M., Music and Human Learning/Music Education, 2016) serves as the Advocacy Chair for the National Association for Music Education-Texas

During their time together, the Kealing Middle School band program has seen significant growth from 165 members in 2017 to 270 members this school year. In addition, under Devall's direction, the KMS Symphonic Band was recognized as a Commended Winner for the Citation of Excellence by the Foundation for Music Education in 2019. The group has also continued to earn top honors at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluations from 2017-present.

Kyle Jones appointed as the new Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Northwest Missouri State

Jones (A.D., Woodwinds, 2020) will begin teaching this coming fall while finishing his D.M.A at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Additionally, he will also be serving as Grant Writing Associate for Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony for their 2022-23 season.

Donald Hale selected as the lone Finalist Honorable Mention for the 2022 American Prize in Conducting

Hale's (B.M., Composition, 2019) qualifying performance was of Joel Puckett's flute concerto "The Shadow of Sirius" in collaboration with the Texas Christian University Wind Symphony and Dr. Shauna Thompson, professor of flute. Hale currently serves as Director of Orchestras and Assistant Director of Bands at Lamar High School in Houston, Texas.
