Sung in French
Le faucon (The falcon) is a comic opera in three-acts by Ukrainian composer Bortniansky. Its simple plot is taken from one of the stories in Boccaccio's Decameron. It involves two pairs of lovers, one high-born singing Italian cantilena, and one low-born singing in the style of French opéra-comique. Emotional tragedy turns into a happy ending, though perhaps not for the title-character.
