This concert is open to the public and celebrates the contributions of women, children and diverse communities through a variety of genres, communities and performers.
We’ll be featuring Western European classical works (Florence Price, Elizabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, and Butler School of Music’s own Dr. Robert Hatten) as well as folk/regional and contemporary popular genres (Tejano conjunto, Mariachi, cypher poetry, gospel) and our performers will be representing a variety of communities: Armenian, Persian, Mixte Mexican, Tejano, Black, and the UT String Project’s Women’s Ensemble. And more surprises in store!
Donations will be collected at the door to benefit the Austin Shelter for Women and Children. Contributions of money, clothing, household goods, and toiletries for women and children are welcome.
