Biography

Ivan Pernicki graduated from the Music Academy in Zagreb, Croatia. After graduation, he studied on the master level for five years at La Schola Cantorum in Paris, with Professor Eugen Indjic, student of Leonard Bernstein and Anton Rubenstein.

In 2008, Ivan performed the premiere of a composition by E. Ewazena at the Juilliard School of Music.  In 2009 and 2010 he was awarded the International Keyboard Music Institute Scholarship at the Mannes College of Music.  In October 2014 he visited several universities – Goucher College, Baltimore; Slippery Rock University, Pittsburgh; Kennesaw State University, Atlanta – and presented pieces by Croatian, American and European composers. In the same year he was presented with a special award for Best Vocal Piano Accompanist at the international vocal competition Lazar Jovanović in Belgrade.

Pernicki has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician for the Croatian Radio and Television, and at many festivals in Switzerland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, France, Slovenia, Latvia and the United States. He also participated in the realization of two student opera projects produced by the Zagreb Academy of Music and Theatre Mala Scena, in which he performed the role of the orchestra, to excellent reviews.
