Guest Artist Concert

Los Tonos Humanos was founded in 2004 with the aim of performing repertoire spanning from the Middle Ages to the Spanish and Mexican Baroque using replicas of period instruments. Three Mexican musicians specialized in the peformance of early music came together for this purpose: Elisa Ávalos (soprano), Omar Ruiz García (Renaissance flutes) and Manuel Mejía (lute and Renaissance guitarrilla).

Los Tonos Humanos (Human Tones) takes its name from songs for voice and instrumental accompaniment popular in the second half of the 17th century. Despite their brevity and economy of means, these songs recreated characters, stories and archetypical situations present in different literary and musical genres characteristic of the time. The Mexican group has performed all over their home country and in several European cities.
