Teaching Assistant in Opera

Based in Austin, TX, Chinese soprano Yuxin Liu is pursuing her Doctorate in Opera Performance at the University of Texas at Austin.

While well-versed in many vocal styles, this season she will debut the role of Violetta in La Traviata with Butler Opera Center, where she played Lan, a Chinese Princess, in Tea: A Mirror of Soul last season. Ms. Liu joined Austin Opera for the 2023/2024 season and was seen in the ensemble for Carmen.

Ms. Liu holds a Bachelor of Music from the China Conservatory of Music and completed her Master of Music at the New England Conservatory, where she performed the roles of Amor in L'arbore di Diana and Sandman in Hansel and Gretel. She was also a soloist in the Liederabend Song Series at the New England Conservatory.

Ms. Liu is a recipient of the inaugural American Art Song Prize at Songfest 2024. This year, she also won the Arkansas District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. In 2023, she was awarded the Second Place Prize of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (TEXOMA).
