“Pianist Tzu Kuang Tan is a stunning talent, whose ability to express the most profound emotions” (Seen and Heard International) “performed with as much delicacy, mood shifts, and dynamic variation as one could wish for.” (Voce di Meche) Born in Malaysia, pianist Tzu Kuang Tan has performed as a song pianist and chamber musician in many venues throughout the United States, Singapore, Austria, and Malaysia.

Performance highlights include a song recital at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara 2023 with Joanne Evans as part of the prize for being the winner of the Marilyn Horne Song Competition in 2022.  He was also a participant in Renee Fleming’s Carnegie Hall Song Studio in which he performed his Carnegie debut in Zankel Hall with Ruby Dibble in 2024. 
Not only appearing on the concert stage, he also coaches and works as a rehearsal pianist for operas for the Butler Opera Center at UT Austin for productions of Puccini's La bohème, Tan Dun’s Tea: A Mirror of Spades, Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades, Verdi’s La Traviata, Ravel’s L’infant et sortileges, John Coriagno’s A Ghost of Versailles and Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.

Currently, he is a student at the University of Texas Austin pursuing a Doctoral of Musical Arts. He has degrees from University of Michigan and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore. He is currently studying with Tamar Sanikidze. Previous teachers include Martin Katz, Amy I-Lin Cheng,  Albert Tiu, Loo Bang Hean and Wah Yi Shuen.
