About the Performers

The Magnolia Brass Quintet, comprised of musicians from the South-Central and Southwest United States, presents performances of new and varied works for brass quintet. The group enjoys connecting with audiences of all ages and is especially passionate about engaging students through their performances.

Julia Bell, Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Texas Tech University, is an educator, active performer, and advocate for new music. She enjoys commissioning new works and performing as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. Bell serves on the boards of the International Women’s Brass Conference and the New Works Project.

Brynn Marchiando plays Principal Trumpet in the Santa Fe Symphony and Second Trumpet in the New Mexico Philharmonic. Inspired by her grandfather, who was a trumpet player, she completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music and her graduate degree at the New England Conservatory of Music.

Katey Jahnke is a dynamic hornist whose passion for music shines as a performer and educator. Based in Northwest Arkansas, she serves as Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where she leads a thriving horn studio and performs with the faculty wind and brass quintets.

Megan Boutin is the Assistant Professor of Trombone at East Texas A&M University. An active freelancer, she has performed across the country with groups including Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Lyric Opera, and Boston Brass. She is an S.E. Shires and Greg Black Artist.

Genevieve Clarkson is the Associate Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Oklahoma City University, where she has taught since 2018. In addition to her engagements as soloist and clinician, Genevieve runs the Tuba-Euphonium Repertoire Expansion Project and is the Lead Tuba Instructor with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps.
