String Project Instructor, Cello

ABOUT

Aidan Bolding is a cellist and teacher who is passionate about helping students discover the joy of music while developing confidence and strong foundations on their instrument. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in cello performance at The University of Texas at Austin, where he studies with faculty who inspire his own growth as a performer and educator.

Aidan grew up in Pennsylvania, where he was deeply involved in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and PRYSM ensembles. These experiences sparked his commitment to music and gave him the opportunity to perform regularly in orchestras and chamber groups. He continued his training at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Alan Rafferty. At CCM he performed in masterclasses with leading artists and often held principal positions in both orchestral and chamber settings. His performance background includes a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque works to contemporary compositions, and this variety shapes both his artistry and the way he approaches teaching.

Teaching has been an important part of Aidan’s life since 2017. He has worked with students of all ages, from young beginners to advanced players preparing for auditions. His lessons are grounded in the Suzuki Method through Book 8 and are supported by technical studies such as scales and etudes by Cossmann, Sevcik, Kreutzer, and Popper. He strives to help students not only master technical skills but also learn how to practice independently, solve problems creatively, and express their own musical voice. Above all, he works to create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment where students feel motivated to grow.

Aidan is excited to join the String Project and looks forward to sharing his love of the cello with students and families in the Austin community.
