The Butler School of Music saxophone quartet 4116 earned the Silver Medal at the 2026 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, one of the nation’s most prestigious chamber music competitions. This year’s competition drew 229 musicians representing 26 countries and 29 U.S. states. Over the course of three demanding rounds, 4116 performed works by Alfred Desenclos, Gemma Peacock, Robert Schumann, William Bolcom, and John Leszczynski.

The quartet takes its name from the members’ favorite practice room on campus , Room 4.116. The ensemble is coached by Stephen Page, Associate Professor of Saxophone at the Butler School of Music. Page also coached the ZED Saxophone Quartet, which won the same Silver Medal in 2024.
