About the Quintet

The U.S. Army School of Music Woodwind Quintet consists of instructors from the U.S. Army School of Music, located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek - Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Selected from within the ranks of Army Music, they provide instruction to all newly enlisted Soldiers of the Army Music Program, as well as continuing education to non-commissioned officers and officers returning to the School of Music for professional development. As Army Musicians, they have performed for an entertained military and civilian audiences throughout the United States and around the world, including locations such as Germany, Russia, Israel, and Iraq. 

Sgt. 1st Class Ali Park is currently serving as the flute instructor at the U.S. Army School of Music. Her previous duty assignments include the Army Ground Forces Band (Georgia), Military Intelligence Corps Band (Arizona), and The Training and Doctrine Command Band (Virginia), in addition to serving in the Army Reserves with the 300th Army Band (California). SFC Park is a native of Los Angeles, California, and holds degrees from the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of Iowa, and the Hartt School. 

Sgt. 1st Class Kailin Eskander teaches oboe and faculty development courses at the U.S. Army and U.S. Naval Schools of Music as well as coaches student chamber groups. She enlisted in the Army in 2007 and has served with the U.S. Army Ground Forces Band, U.S. Army Europe Band & Chorus, and the 323d Army Band “Fort Sam’s Own,” and has been a guest musician with U.S. Military Academy Band. A native of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, she earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Oboe Performance from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. 

Sgt. 1st Class Charlie Brokovich hails from Fairfax Station, Virginia.  He joined the Army in 2005 and is currently the instructor of clarinet at the U.S. Army School of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis in Music Education from the University of South Carolina (2003) and a Master of Music degree in clarinet performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (2005). His primary teachers include Ronald de Kant, Ron Aufmann, and Doug Graham.

Staff Sgt. Derek Bannasch has served as bassoon instructor and woodwind branch head at the U.S. Army and U.S. Naval Schools of Music since 2015. He enlisted in the Army in 2009 and has served with the 1st Cavalry Division Band and the U.S. Army Europe Band & Chorus and as a guest musician with the U.S. Army Field Band and the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band. A native of Clarkston, Michigan, he holds degrees from Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan. 

Sgt. Andy Moon has served as horn instructor at the U.S. Army School of Music since 2015, and served as interim U.S. Naval School of Music horn instructor for 2016-17. Andy hails from Owasso, Oklahoma.  He holds a Bachelor of Music in Education and Horn Performance from the University of Arkansas and a Masters of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) under the tutelage of Randy Gardner, Elizabeth Freimuth, Tom Sherwood, Duane Dugger, and Timothy Thompson.
