
Teaching Assistant in Opera
Yueqi Zhang is a versatile musician who has carved a dynamic career both as a collaborative pianist and a singer. His artistic journey has encompassed captivating performances as a vocal collaborative pianist, chamber musician, and vocalist across stages spanning Asia, Europe, and North America.
Having served as a vocal coach at the Manhattan School of Music for three years, Yueqi’s talent has graced a range of recitals and accompanied the winners of the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition. He also holds a position as Staff Pianist at New York University.
Yueqi has made appearances in various music festivals. In 2022, he was selected as part of a singer-pianist duo at the Cleveland Art Song Festival, culminating in a final recital at Mixon Hall. That same year, he joined the Chautauqua Institution as a vocal coach and staff pianist. In 2023, Yueqi was a young artist pianist at the Glimmerglass Festival, where he served as rehearsal pianist and vocal coach on multiple productions, including work with countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo. He was an opera coaching fellow at the Aspen Music Festival in 2024. In summer 2025, he was a Vocal Piano Fellow at the Music Academy of the West, working on Don Giovanni and a variety of concert projects.
At The University of Texas at Austin’s Butler Opera Center, Yueqi served as music staff on productions of La Traviata, The Ghosts of Versailles, and Le Nozze di Figaro.
Yueqi holds a master’s degree in collaborative piano from Manhattan School of Music and a master’s degree in vocal performance from Nanjing University of the Arts. Furthermore, he achieved a Professional Performance Diploma from Manhattan School of Music. His teachers include Warren Jones, Thomas Lausmann, and Xunmei Liu. He is now pursuing his Doctorate degree at Butler School of Music under Tamar Sanikidze.
