Lecturer in Clarinet
Dr. Tyler Webster, a native Texan, is currently Lecturer in Clarinet at the Butler School of Music. He is also Assistant Professor of Clarinet and Music Education at Texas Lutheran University and Lecturer of Clarinet at the University of the Incarnate Word. Previously, he was the Assistant Instructor of Clarinet at the University of Texas at Austin. With a strong passion for academics, teaching, and pedagogy, he has maintained private studios over the past decade, held residencies, and presented lectures at universities throughout the southern region.
An active performer, Dr. Webster holds the Associate Principal and E-flat clarinetist positions of the Abilene Philharmonic and the West Texas Philharmonic. As a chamber musician, Dr. Webster performs in a variety of ensembles. His woodwind quintet, LI5TEN, took part in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and held a residency at the Banff Center for the Arts in Banff, Canada. He is also an advocate for contemporary music and is a member of Homegrown, a new music ensemble that aims to program local composers and multi-sensory experiences.
Dr. Webster has been an avid and active composer/arranger since he was 10 years old and is passionate about writing for chamber music, etudes, and expanding the clarinet repertoire. His most recent project is his Stories collection, comprised of seven sonatas written for close friends.
