String Project Instructor, Cello
Mika Syms is a cellist and educator from Austin, Texas. She began playing the cello in 2014 with the Kealing Middle School Orchestra, and is an alumna of Austin Soundwaves, having joined the Draylen Mason Fellows Program in 2020. This Spring, she will complete a Music Education degree through the Sarah & Ernest Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin where she studies with Bion Tsang. She teaches various string classes through the UT String Project, and maintains her own private studio. When she’s not playing music, Mika enjoys playing Stardew Valley, listening to punk rock, and collecting plants.
