
String Project Instructor, Double Bass
Jewelie Lujan is a graduate student from Harlingen, Texas. Her primary instrument is the double bass, and she has performed with the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, Early Music Collegium, and various Wind Ensembles. In 2023, she was invited to perform a concerto for a masterclass at the American String Teachers' Association National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Jewelie has also been recognized for her scholarly work, including participation in the McNair Scholars Program and Greater South Texas Undergraduate Research Grant. She presented her previous research at National conferences in both Long Beach, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. She graduated in May 2025 Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in music education. Her studio experience is a culmination of private string students from beginner to advanced levels. Her public school teaching experience was at Barnes Elementary School, Adkins Middle School, and King High School in Corpus-Christi, Texas, all grades pre-K through 12th grade.
