
Teaching Assistant in Tuba and Euphonium
Ethyn Evans is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in tuba performance at The University of Texas at Austin under the direction of Professor Charles Villarrubia, where he is a graduate teaching assistant.
As an active performer, Ethyn has been invited to play at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and currently serves as principal tuba for the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Austin Civic Orchestra, the Calcasieu British Brass Band, as an E-flat Bass with the Austin Brass Band, and is a performing member of the Backburner Tuba and Euphonium Collective. He is also a substitute musician with the Dallas Winds, Houston Symphony, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, Ft. Smith Symphony, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Lake Charles Symphony. Ethyn was recently selected as a semi-finalist for the International Tuba Euphonium Association Tuba Artist Competition, the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival Solo Artist Competition, and the Arnold Jacobs Orchestral Competition. Ethyn is also a member of the International Tuba Euphonium Association Collegiate Committee.
Ethyn is a passionate educator, and his students have been awarded placements in All-State ensembles, National Honor Bands, undergraduate music programs, and have received superior ratings at UIL solo competitions.
As a sought-after arranger for brass instruments, Ethyn has been commissioned to arrange works for ensembles around the country. He currently serves on the arrangement staff for the Austin Brass Collective and the Eastman Tuba Euphonium Academy.
Ethyn Evans is an Eastman Winds Rising Artist. He exclusively performs on an Eastman 836 CC Tuba, and an Eastman 864 F Tuba.
