String Project Instructor in Classical Guitar
ABOUT
Connor McManus is a classical guitarist and music educator from Austin, Texas. He first picked up the guitar in sixth grade and has loved playing and learning music ever since. He has participated in musical ensembles throughout middle school, high school, and college, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance at The University of Texas at Austin, where he studies with Adam Holzman.
Connor loves helping students discover how fun and rewarding it can be to learn an instrument. As a teacher with the UT String Project, he strives to create a positive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying new things. He believes every student learns differently and enjoys helping students build confidence while developing their own musical voice.
Connor also has several years of experience working with children through summer camp, where he progressed from camp counselor to camp supervisor. He also works as an outdoor guide for UT, giving him additional experience leading groups, teaching skills, and creating safe and engaging experiences for others.
Lessons with Connor focus on building a strong foundation in technique, rhythm, music reading, and musicianship while keeping learning engaging and enjoyable. Whether a student is picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to grow as a musician, Connor wants each student to leave their lesson feeling proud of what they accomplished and excited to keep playing.
Outside of music, Connor enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, and exploring the outdoors. He is excited to share his love of the guitar with the next generation of young musicians!
