Praised for her “artistic, clear and enlightened” performances (BBC Magazine) that showcase "refined virtuosity and underlying passion" (Ritmo Magazine), Bulgarian pianist Anna Petrova embraces a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, and artistic director. She has received top honors at competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth and Jose Roca Competitions and performed at celebrated venues including Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
Her debut solo album Slavic Heart was released in 2022 to critical acclaim on Germany’s Solo Musica label. Petrova has also recorded commercially for Naxos, Centre Disc, Coviello Classics, and Melos Records. An avid chamber musician, she is a member of two award-winning ensembles, the Carr-Petrova Duo and Iris Trio.
Alongside her performing career, Petrova is associate professor of piano at The University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music and offers masterclasses around the world, including at the Beijing Central Conservatory, Jerusalem Music Center, Tianjin Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
As co-artistic director of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz in Austin, TX, Petrova combines her passions for artistic excellence, education, and social impact. She curates innovative, immersive performances that foster community connections and celebrate diverse voices, creating a platform for meaningful cultural experiences.
