Teaching Assistant in Collaborative Piano

A native of China, Tianying Xiong began her piano studies at the age of 4. Her professional career began at 15 when she gave her first piano recital in her hometown. Recently, she held a position at Longy school of music of Bard College as staff pianist and she is a member in the Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda. 
 
As an active collaborative pianist, she has made numerous concert appearances at Williams Hall at New England Conservatory of Music, Pickman Hall at Longy School of Music, Millard Auditorium, Bergman Hall at the Hartt School, Oriental Art Center, Shanghai,China. She also has a long and close relationship with Boston Zarzuela Opera. As a pianist, She won the Gold Award of the 2nd Duke Youth Piano Invitational Cup, the Excellence Award of Shanghai International Piano Masters Arts Week, the 4th of Professional Youth Group of the 5th KAWAI Asia Piano Competition, the 3rd Prize of the 2nd Fang Baili Invitational Competition, and the Best Performance Award of the 2nd Shanghai Music School Piano Competition. 
 
Tianying is pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano at the University of Texas at Austin, studying under Prof. Valentine Colette. Her previous teacher includes Joel Ayau, Patti Wolf, Frederic Chiu, Lions Gate Trio, Kathryn Brown, Manfred Wagner-Artzt, James Ciles, David Written, and Johnathan Korth.
