The Keyboard Department is renowned both for the comprehensiveness of its degree programs and their excellence. For a half century, it has attracted a distinguished faculty who have taken pride in training generations of some of the most highly regarded musicians and teachers. A low faculty-to-student ratio guarantees a high degree of personal and professional interaction. Students in the Keyboard Department enjoy some of the best-equipped facilities in the world. The Butler School of Music facilities include five concert and recital halls, numerous teaching studios, classrooms and rehearsal halls and 125 practice rooms. With almost 300 pianos (including nine concert grands), four harpsichords, two clavichords and a fortepiano, the department's facilities are unsurpassed.
