Instruction - Bassoon

Bassoonist Alexander Onieal has held positions with the New Mexico Philharmonic and Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Texas at Austin. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony, Opera Southwest, Performance Santa Fe, Lubbock Symphony, Midland-Odessa Symphony, and the Williamsburg (VA) Symphony. Alexander holds a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University. His primary teachers include Kristin Wolfe Jensen, Judith LeClair, and Jeffrey Keesecker.

 

Alexander has toured with the Castleton Festival Orchestra in Muscat, Oman and on the West Coast of the United States with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. As a chamber musician he has performed at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, Chatter Sunday, Juilliard ChamberFest, with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival's educational ensemble, and at various venues across the country. He has attended numerous summer programs including the Crested Butte Music Festival, Castleton Festival, Bowdoin International Festival, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, Hidden Valley Music Seminars, and the Eastern Music Festival. After maintaining a successful private studio in Albuquerque, NM for three years Alexander will begin to teach in Austin, TX this fall in Austin ISD and Leander ISD. When not performing or making reeds, he enjoys spending time with his one year old Border Collie mix, Summer.
