Born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, Ya-Ping Lo began her musical studies at the age of 5. She received her M.A. degree in Collaborative Piano at the Taiwan National University of Education, under the guidance of Yeni-Lee. From 2014 to 2016, she pursued the Advanced Performance Studies Program at Bard College Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Frank Corliss. From 2018 to 2020, she studied at Jacobs school of Music at Indiana university, her mentors included Anne Epperson, Kevin Murphy, Allan Armstrong and Futaba Niekawa.

An avid chamber musician and collaborator, Ms. Lo has performed with numerous renowned artists around the world. She appeared as a collaborative pianist in the master classes of such distinguished artists as Jinjoo Cho, Kathleen Winkler, Glenn Dicterow, Richie Hawley, Cynthia Phelps, Richard O’Neill.

In addition to being lauded for her collaborative pianist performing career, she has participated in many music festivals such as : Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, where she studied with Jonathan Feldman; Crescendo Summer Institute in Tokaj, Hungary and Bowdoin music festival in Maine.

Ms. Lo is also a composer, composing in a variety of musical settings, including both Western and Chinese style. Her piece The Fantasy of Liuqin, written for an ensemble of traditional Chinese instruments, had its premiere at the Taiwan National Concert Hall in 2011.

Ms. Lo is currently a second-year Doctoral student at Butler school of Music in Texas, working as a TA of Colette Valentine.
