Dana Wygmans is a double bassist who currently serves as the UT Austin String Project Coordinator. Additionally, she is a private bass teacher and educator with Austin Soundwaves. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, she received a Bachelor of Music Education from Alma College. She moved to Austin in 2013 and earned her Master’s in Double Bass Performance from UT Austin in 2015, where she first met Dr. Laurie Scott and taught with String Project. Before returning to String Project as the Program Coordinator, she was the Director of Orchestras at Murchison Middle School and co-directed the Prelude Orchestra with Dr. Scott in Austin Youth Orchestra. You can find Dana playing her bass all over Austin, and she performs with the orchestra folk band American Dreamer. In her spare time, Dana loves to spend time crafting, hanging out with her cats, and taking care of plants.
