AboutDelaine Fedson Leonard is an active performer and teacher based in Austin, TX, now performing with the Valley Symphony Orchestra. After 20 years as Principal with the Waco Symphony, and 16 years as second harp/permanent extra with the Dallas Opera Orchestra and several years on the Texas Touring Artists chamber music roster, she left those jobs to focus on University teaching while continuing freelance performances with the Austin, San Antonio, Laredo, and Ft. Worth Symphonies. Throughout her career she has collaborated with touring artists Ray Charles, Dave Brubek, Doc Severinson, Natalie Cole, Philip Bailey, David Foster, Andrea Bocelli, Bernadette Peters, Willie Nelson, Florence Henderson, and shows A Chorus Line, The King and I, Cats, The Producers, Celtic Woman, and Oklahoma. She is a member in good standing of the DFW Professional Musicians Union, TMEA, SAA and AHS.
Leonard currently teaches at The University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music and Austin Community College, having held previous positions at Baylor, Southwestern, St. Edwards and Winthrop (Rock Hill, SC) Universities. She served for 12 years on the American Harp Society Board of Directors, 5 years as Board Secretary, and 4 years as National President. Leonard is a registered Suzuki Association of the Americans and Hong Kong Talent Education Society Harp Teacher Trainer who has trained Suzuki teachers and students all over the world. She also maintains a small private Suzuki studio in Austin, TX.
