Drummer Fabio Augustinis, D.M.A. in Jazz Performance student, is the recipient of the Fall 2020 Eleanor Alexander Stribling Award for Excellence in Jazz Studies. The award is given each semester to an outstanding jazz studies student, and honors Eleanor Alexander Stribling, who became one the first female bank directors in the nation when she became a director at First National Bank in San Antonio in 1873. She was known as a philanthropist who was concerned with education. Her hard work and generosity made it possible for one of her great-great-grandchildren, Dr. Cheney Crow, to fund this award. Fabio has been a stalwart member of the jazz studies program in ensembles, classes, and as a graduate assistant.
