This event will showcase diverse manifestations of music, gastronomy, and regional art in the Lone Star State. The word "huapango" means different things to different people; it refers to various styles of music and dance from various parts of Mexico and its former territories, and also to the community events at which those musical traditions are carried out.
This event highlights a variety of artistic expressions that, when taken as a whole, give a sense of the richness of regional Mexican culture as it is lived out in Texas. It includes not only music, but also cooking presentations, talks featuring researchers and cultural activists, and workshops on regional poetry and handicraft. This event would not have been possible without the generous support of the University of Texas at Austin, the Old Dominion University Office of the Arts, the Rainwater Foundation, and other private partners. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this event will take place entirely online.

El Foro de la Cultura Huapanguera en Texas es un encuentro binacional y bilingüe que consiste en multiples formatos y fue concebido para exhibir y compartir la riqueza cultural de las diversas manifestaciones en la música, la gastronomía, y el arte regional en el estado. La palabra "huapango" tiende a cambiar de significado concorde a quien la defina; generalmente se refiere a varios estilos de música y baile que radican en distintas partes de Mexico y sus antiguos territorios como el suroeste de los Estados Unidos. También se refiere a la fiesta comunitaria en la que se desarrollan dichas tradiciones musicales.
En este mismo encuentro, les presentamos una gran variedad de expresiones culturales que pertenecen a las tradiciones regionales correspondientes con la cuna de los diversos tipos de "huapango". Este evento no solo incluye música, sino también presentaciones gastronómicas, charlas con investigadores y activistas culturales, ademas de talleres de versada, trova, y artesanía regional. Este evento no hubiese sido posible sin el generoso apoyo de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, la Oficina de Artes de Old Dominion University, la fundación Rainwater, y otros colaboradores particulares. A causa de la pandemia, todas las presentaciones del año 2021 se llevarán a cabo en línea.
